CLASSIC RIDDLE REVISITED
Can a man marry his widow's sister? This riddle has always been answered NO, because for a man to have a widow, he must be dead. However, if you change the wording slightly to ask, "Is it possible for a man to have been married to his widow's sister?"--- then the answer is YES. Can you explain why?
Answer:
Assume the man marries and that his wife dies, and he then marries her sister. Then he dies, leaving his wife a widow. This means he was at one time married to his widow's sister (his first wife).
