FIVE RHYMING RIDDLES

1)
At first I'm a word that is said
If something should fall on your head;
Then add just a letter
And I become better:
A piece of furniture instead.
2)
I with borrowed silver shine,
What you see is none of mine.

3)
Eight of us move forward, but never back;
To protect our king from the foe's attack.

4)
Mates unbalanced,
Or so they seem;
But paired in tandem,
A deadly team.

One gently arced,
One unbending;
When used together,
Death's impending.

5)
A race on earth that will never end,
Countless runners, yet each a friend;
A race on earth that will never be won,
'Til life on earth is over and done.
