A FRIEND LIKE MINE

Someone looks me in the eye,
I know who and I know why;
I know him well and he knows me,
A very special bond have we.

We share the same thoughts,
Though I'm not sure about the place;
We always agree - in every case.
Linked to the very last degree,
If I should die, then so should he.

Never once have I seen him blink,
Though indeed I've seen him wink;
He will not move without consent,
And when he does, it's to my bent.

Everyone has a friend like mine,
And lucky are they who deem them fine;
But all of us like them when we smile,
For they smile back all the while.
