INITIAL SILENT LETTER HOMOPHONES

How many homophones can you think of that differ from each other only by an initial silent letter, as in KNEW and NEW.

Possible Answers:

AISLE -ISLE
HOUR - OUR
KNAVE - NAVE
KNIGHT - NIGHT
KNIT - NIT
KNOT - NOT
WHOLE - HOLE
WRAP - RAP
WREST -REST
WRIGHT -RIGHT
WRING - RING
WRITE - RITE
WROTE - ROTE
WRUNG - RUNG

There are at least two words which can become homophones by changing a single letter within the word. One is a five-letter word beginning with B and the other a six-letter word beginning with C.

Answers:

BASIS/BASES
COURSE/COARSE

Note: The words BASS and BASE could be added to this short list, but only under a certain condition. BASS is a heteronym. That is, it can be pronounced two different ways: with a short a, as in the fish; or with a long a, as in a male singing voice. In the latter case, it is a homophone for BASE. Because of this restriction, I did not include it in the list above.
