THE CYCLOPS
Credit: Matt Mayfield
(Title and Lines 5-6 added)

A cyclops stares from a blank white face,
Seven earrings his visage grace;
Atop his head are five tattoos,
On his feet are two black shoes.
On his left a square is full,
On his right a diagonal;
On his back six scars dug deep,
Yet he did neither cry nor weep.
His job to tumble, bounce and fall,
But he is no fool, no not at all.

HINT:
The answer is an inanimate object.

Answer:

A die (one of a pair of dice)

(My) Explanation:

The cyclops (a mythical one-eyed monster) is the single pip on a (white) die. On either side of the one pip are pips two and five or three and four - the seven earrings. Above the one pip are the five pips (tattoos), and below it the two (the black shoes). To the left, the four pips fill a square - one in each corner, and the three is a diagonal. Opposite the one are the six pips (scars).
