ACCIDENTAL COMPOUNDS

A bathrobe is a robe you might wear after a bath - a compound word formed because of the natural connection between the two single words that make it up - bath and robe. But take the words CART and RIDGE. Combining them might make a word meaning "mountain range for a wagon." Instead, CARTRIDGE is an "accidental compound" meaning a tube or container.

In the clues below, the left column contains hypothetical definitions of nine accidental compounds based on what their two parts mean. In the right-hand column are the matching proper definitions for the same nine words. Can you link the false and proper definitions by identifying the accidental compound word?
