Each sentence below has a hidden word that is defined somewhere in the sentence.

For example, consider the sentence

After the sheet was coated with paraffin, it yielded a luster that was much to the worker's liking. 

It conceals the word AFFINITY (paraffin, it yielded), which is defined in the sentence as "liking."

The hidden word can be defined in the sentence as a single word or a phrase.
