It may only be granted,
Not taken or bought;
What the sinner desires,
But the saint needs not.

I'm named for a bird,
For I have its long neck;
But I live out my life
On a cargo ship's deck.

I may be bold, I may be shy,
You dare not look me in the eye;
A giant in your world, just average in mine,
So close and so far - at the same time.

What can sing, but not talk;
What can run, but not walk?
