In each pair of words below, remove one letter from the first word and one letter from the second, so that the remaining letters, in order, spell a new word. The removed letters may come from anywhere in the words. For example, given the word pair PALACE - BOY, you could remove the first A from PALACE and the Y from BOY, leaving the word PLACEBO.
