Change one letter in each of the words in the (nonsense) phrases below so that the new words formed are the first two words of a familiar proverb. For example, given the phrase FOWLS PUSH, you could change the W in FOWLS to O, and the P in PUSH to R, to get FOOLS RUSH - the first two words of FOOLS RUSH IN WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD. Can you name the two words and complete the proverb?

1. THEN ON
2. AS AMPLE
3. ILL CHAT
4. DEAL MET
5. CASTE MATES
6. WOO MANX
7. BLOND AS
8. TIRE AID
9. TOE PAN
10. NINE GUNS

Answers:

1. WHEN IN ROME, DO AS THE ROMANS.
