A. CHEMEM

In this type of puzzle, a two-letter U.S. state abbreviation in a word is replaced by the abbreviation of a different state. The two-letter abbreviation may occur anywhere in the word. For example,

CANTER - WINTER

In the flat below, the abbreviations occur within the words.

An old man rocks upon the porch;
From a distance is seen a spark.
No cause for alarm, for all is well.
It's his _ _ _ _ _ that glows in the dark.
A glass of homemade _ _ _ _ _ in hand:
My grandad. Our own patriarch.

HINTS:
Something to smoke
Something to drink

Answers:

CIGA
