RETRONYMS II

Retronyms are words that have been coined to describe old products that have been replaced by newer, higher-tech ones. For example, the term "brick and mortar" is needed to distinguish what has always been called a store - occupying a building of some kind -  from the influx of on-line shopping sites.

Can you name the retronym that is used to distinguish the old from the new in the following areas?

1. Audience
2. Turf
3. Hours
4. Game (baseball)
5. Urgent care centers

Answers:

1. LIVE  audience - All audiences used to be "live."
2. NATURAL turf - Grass - before "artificial turf."
3. BANK hours - Banks used to be opened form 10:00 to 3:00.
4. DAY game - There used to be baseball games during the work week.
5. HOUSE CALL - Doctors used to come to your house for minor illnesses
