Think of the names of two types of trees. Find a homophone for each one so that the two words describe the source of a type of fabric. Change one letter in the name of this fabric to get word that refers back to trees.

Answer:
 
The trees are YEW and FIR.
The homophones are EWE and FUR. 
EWE FUR is the source of WOOL.
Changing one letter of WOOL gives WOOD.
