HOMOPHONE HEADLINES II
GAMES Magazine
January, 1987
Stephen Sniderman
Each of the following pairs of cues leads to two four-word headlines. The words in the second headline are homophones of those in the first, always in the same order. For example,
Pre-noon solar rays lit interior
Grieving child given hotel tour
lead to MORNING SUN SHONE IN
MOURNING SON SHOWN INN
Spoiler Alert: The hints below the clues give the first headline. This is obviously a huge hint for the second headline. I feel it is warranted because, in my opinion, this is a difficult puzzle.
1. Letters Dispatched in Direction of 747 Aircraft
Man's Cologne Not Unusual Enough
2. Gambler Oxegenates Loaf-Making Mixture
Superior Beneficiaries Raised Female Deer
3. Group of Blond Children Awarded Coffin Stand
Taxi Passenger Made Single Ale
4. Raspy Synagogue Singers Purchase Song of Praise
Equine Trots Past the Man
(BIG) HINTS:
First headline:
1. MAIL SENT TO PLANE
2. BETTOR AIRS BREAD DOUGH
3. FAIR BROOD WON BIER
4. HOARSE CANTORS BUY HYMN
Answers:
1. mail sent to plane

2. bettor airs bread dough
BETTER HEIRS BRED DOE
3. fair brood won bier
