LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
From Reader's Digest
Brenda P. Dixon

At the funeral of a man prominent in the community, I overheard some elderly women talking about the deceased. "It's really too bad about him," said one. "He had the same thing I've got, only mine's a lot worse."

DRESS CODE
From Reader's Digest
Larry King with Peter Occhiogrosso

In his book, TV and radio personality Larry King mentions interviewing the great Yiddish comedian Menasha Skulnik.

Menasha told me about a friend of his who always had on either a light-brown jacket and dark-brown pants, or a dark-brown jacket and light-brown pants. For the whole time he knew him, fifty years, he always noticed this. Finally, one day on a train he mentioned his observation to his friend and said, "Explain this to me. In fifty years I've never asked you why?"

"Menasha, I bought a brown suit," his friend said. The pants wore out first. So I bought a new pair of pants. Then the jacket wore out. I never caught up."
