TWO RHYMING RIDDLES

1)
The authors are many, but the title's the same;
I contain random text, but order's my aim.
Read me one day and my pages are bare,
Try another day and the words will be there.
Every plot is different, though all by time are bound,
And in each the story of a life may be found.

2)
I'm a lock without a key,
Neither any combination will you see;
I'm not a lock of the kind you think,
Though I lock up stuff that you can drink.
I'm not a tap or faucet as such,
But open me up and watch the gush;
Travelers and sailors are thankful for me,
They need me to go from sea to sea.
So tell me now, what can I be,
What kind of lock has no key?

Answers:

1. Diary
2. Lock in a canal for raising and lowering ships
