CRYPTO  CLUES XLIV

Dell PennyPress Variety Puzzles
Summer, 2021

The answers to cryptic crossword clues are disguised by wordplay, although the direct answer is in there somewhere. For example, the clue, Cool (in the sixties) English resort lacking capital, could be answered by RIGHT ON. RIGHT ON meant "cool" in the sixties, and RIGHT ON  lacks a capital B to become BRIGHTON - an English resort. Finding the dividing point between the wordplay and the definition is the key to solving. For example, the clue, Drop a long tale, could be answered by SAGA. SAGA is a long tale, and the clue part Drop a tells you to drop the final  A in SAGA - leaving SAG - which is to Drop.
