FOUR RHYMING RIDDLES

1)
With thieves I consort,
The vilest in short,
I'm quite at my ease in depravity;
Yet all divines use me,
And savants can't lose me,
For I am the center of gravity.

2)
What each has received.
Quite early in life,
What brave ones have earned,
Through toil and strife.

What each man bestows
On her whom he espouses;
What some people choose
To put on their houses.

What not a cent has cost,
Yet may not be disdained;
For if once it is lost
It cannot be regained.

3)
I am a word of letters three,
No life may be measured---except by me;
With C, I hold the wild beast,
With P, I once was called a leaf.
With R, I storm with passion dread,
With W, I earn my daily bread;
With S, the gift of wisdom does appear,
And grows with each advancing year.

4)
My whole can be found along the great sea,
Near rivers and ponds I also may be;
Drop my last letter and into your sight
Comes a planet that's seen on a clear, starry night.
Curtail me once more and a word you will see
Which means to damage, I know you'll agree;
One last curtailment leaves you a word,
Oft tenderly spoken and lovingly heard.
