FIVE RHYMING RIDDLES
1)
I sit in a corner and never was heard
To make a petition or utter a word.
I travel by night and I travel by day,
To carry your message, whatever you say.
When I start on my journey,
Though I stick to my place,
I often must suffer a blow to my face.
I am generally square,
But my character's such
That you'd best not compel me
To work overmuch.
For I'll run you one errand,
And, that errand run,
My lifework is ended,
My usefulness done.
2)
I daily view the world around,
And in one place I'm seldom found;
I never eat, yet by my power,
Produce what billions do devour.
3)
My nature is such, that I
Can do things with ease,
What strength and force will never do,
Employ them as you please.
4)
Without a bridle or a saddle,
Across a ridge I ride a-straddle;
And countless numbers are through me
Better able to read and see.
5)
Men and women oft' speak of me,
My voice they often hear;
But no one ever shall me see;
But no one ever shall me see;
Even though the day be clear;
For everyone must full agree
That nowhere must my dwelling be.
For everyone must full agree
That nowhere must my dwelling be.
