1)
I drift forever with the current,
Down endless rivers man has made.
Tame, yet wild, I run elusive ,
Serving man in countless ways.
Before I came the world was simpler,
Darker, colder, and rougher too.
But though I have man's burden lightened,
When I'm mishandled,
You have good reason to be frightened.
2)
Three bothers share a family sport,
A never-ending marathon of sorts.
The oldest one is fat and short,
And trudges slowly on.
The middle brother's tall and slim,
And keeps a steady pace.
The youngest runs just like the wind,
A-speeding through the race.
"He's young in years, we let him run,"
The older brothers say;
"For though he surely is the fast one,
He's second in a way."
