FIVE RHYMING RIDDLES

Iron roof, glass walls,

Burns and burns, but never falls.

I am one though some say worth 1000,

Usually a memory,

Sometimes surrounded by the remnants

Of a long-gone tree.

A portion of time is captured by me.

The older I get, the smaller I grow.

Without my best friend I am useless,

But he is also my deadliest foe.

No mouth, no arms, no legs,

Yet I scream and signal danger;
I'm heard both night and day,
People quickly get out of my way.

5)

I'm not alive, yet I hold all the power,

I'm generally used on the half or full hour;

Who will control me, mistress or master?

The struggle has been known to end in disaster.
