You'll know when I'm coming,
From the jingle of my bell;
But exactly who I am
Is not always easy to tell.
Children await me,
And find me quite jolly;
But I'm not to be found
In halls decked with holly.
My job is a cold one,
I'm a man most would know;
But my business is bad
In sleet, ice, or snow.
I pass many houses,
Stopping at some;
But please - don't think twice,
It has nothing to do with naughty and nice.
I travel on business,
I make my rounds;
But no reindeer I assure you
Ever haul me around.
No, no, to be sure - when I come to town,
I do all my traveling firmly on the ground.
I love the Christmas season, just like you,
But it's not the best time - and I tell you true,
It's not my favorite season,
And it's for a sound economic reason.
