THREE RHYMING RIDDLES

1)
I am just a lowly thing,
The object of much derision;
I'm odd because I multiply
By practicing division.

2)
Black as night I can be,
Until my Mother sits on me;
Then I become as clear as ice,
And as I change - up goes my price.

3)
To solve this riddle, my whole you must be;
Consider these clues, and I think you'll agree.
Take away my first letter and I am a store,
Take away my second and I'm what many adore;
Restore my whole, read me in reverse if you're able,
I'm now cars suspended from an overhead cable.
From this take one letter - leaving four you may keep,
And these spell out - surprise - male sheep.

Answers:

1. An amoeba
2. Coal (which becomes a diamond under pressure)
3. SMART (mart, art, trams, rams)
