WHAT HOUSE IS THIS?

This house holds rooms, one score and six,
With thousands of boarders, but observe how they mix;
Lions and lambs may dwell together,
Cats and dogs next-door neighbors may be.
But kings and queens, despite their royal state,
Must always remain in rooms separate.
Friend and foe may share the same quarters,
But the rooms must be different for movers and porters.
Tell me if you can, what house is this,
And what are the rooms that number twenty-six?

Answer:

The house is the dictionary, and the rooms are the 26 letters of the alphabet.
