EPONYMS III

An eponym is a real or fictitious person or place from whom or which something is thought to have taken its name. William Penn is the eponym of Pennsylvania. A serious weakness in an otherwise strong person would be his Achilles' heel. Use the following clues to identify their eponymous words.

1. SIDEBURNS - reversal of Ambrose Everett BURNSIDE, an undistinguished general in the Union Army, who was the first to sport them.
2.  LEOTARD - from Jules Leotard - "The daring young man on the flying trapeze" - who invented the garment and was the first to wear one.

4. BIKINI - from the Bikini Atoll - site in the Marshall Islands of early atomic bomb testing - named for its explosive effect upon the viewer
5. COLOGNE - after KOLN - the German city on the Rhine - where eau de cologne was first made
