Each line of words below contains six pieces from two or three longer words that begin with the same letter. The first letter of these longer words has been dropped, and the remaining letters have been broken up into shorter words. These shorter words are listed in alphabetical order. By adding the right starter letter and regrouping the pieces, you should be able to reconstruct the original two or three words.
For example, given the set of words
___ NAB NEAR RED RIDGED SHE THING,
you would add the starter letter U to NAB, NEAR, SHE
and pair them up with RIDGED, THING, and RED
to form UNABRIDGED, UNEARTHING, USHERED.
The letters you add, read downward, will spell a seven-letter word with no repeated letters. This word, which is given as a hint, will tell you the starter letter for each line.
___ ART AT CAP EGO THE WEE
___ ALE ANT ARE ARF HOLES ONLY
___ CENT DATE NUN RANT RIDES TINE
___ A ERR I OR TILL TORY
___ AT HAS HITCH IT ONCE SIS
