SIMPLE SIMON HAS HIS DAY
From The Enigma

QT-OH

Simple Simon has always been portrayed as mildly devious for saying, "Let me taste your ware," to the pieman, when he didn't have any money to pay for it:

Simple Simon met a pieman
Going to the fair.
Said Simple Simon to the pieman,
"Let me taste your ware."

Said the pieman to Simple Simon,
"Show me first your penny."
Said Simple Simon to the pieman,
"Indeed, I have not any."

Below is a flat from The Enigma that presents Simon's side of the story. The key words BLUE and CLUE represent three-word spoonerisms.

Simon says, "That's so unfair!
The whole thing is a BLUE!
I had the money all along.
The opposite is true:
I offered up the coin but then
Discovered he'd a CLUE."

HINT:
First word of BLUE - Pack

Answers:

Pack of lies
Lack of pies
