The first thing we do with a President is shunt him off on a siding where nothing American can happen to him. This is why you never see a President waiting in the rain at a bus stop. Somebody decided a long time ago that this was too American for Presidents to be subjected to. After a while Presidents quite naturally forget that there are such things as bus stops, and, if they stay in office long enough, they even forget that it rains.
