BAD PAIR DAY I
From BRAIN GAME FOR WORD NERDS
Francis Heaney

Every word and phrase in this puzzle contains two adjacent identical pairs of letters, like LU in LITTLE LULU or SO in SO SORRY - but each entry in the left-hand column has had those adjacent pairs swapped with those in its corresponding entry in the right-hand column, with any spaces closed up. So the above phrases might appear as LITTLESOSO - LULURRY.

OTHER EXAMPLES:
ABOBOAL - SUSULINK would be AS USUAL (double SU) and BOBOLINK.
DIASASIC - HETETHOT would be DIETETIC and HAS A SHOT

[Note from JA: I thought this was a difficult puzzle. If it's any comfort, in the original puzzle, the entries in the right-hand column were in random order - and there were 32 of them!]

1. CANCUCU - TATAMBER
2. BECOCOMS - ARARON
3. CRATAT - CISISONIC
4. ASLULUE - HONOININ
5. LYLYCRY - SMIMI
6. IMPAPANG - BIBIYA
7. MAPOSOSAF - VIRTULELE

Answers:

1. CANTATA - CUCUMBER
2. BEAR ARMS - COCOON
3. CRISIS -  CATATONIC
4. ASININE - HONOLULU
5. SLYLY - MIMICRY
6. IMBIBING - PAPAYA
7. MAPLE LEAF - VIRTUOSOS
