SIX RHYMING RIDDLES
1)
We're the measure of hunger and also of power.
Some say four of us will bring on the final hour.
You many win or lose money on account of our speed,
Once we are broken, to man we will heed.
2)
Drink with us and you'll muddle your head;
Sleep with us and you'll be dead.
3)
Odds are good you know my start,
But no one knows my end.
I sound delicious, but I'm not,
Be sure of that, my friend.
Are you stumped? Don't moan and groan,
Here's a hint: I'm a homophone
4)
I'm the mother of all living,
Though I'm often linked with "cheap";
I'm regularly discarded -
Thrown in a shameful heap.
5)
I'm known to live where it's dry,
I'm known to live where it's wet;
I'm blinding when I'm in your eyes,
But with heat, pressure, and a special shape
I have the opposite effect.
6)
Up and down,
Present and past,
Sometimes slow,
Sometimes fast.
