Each numbered two-word phrase below can be turned into a single word by changing one letter in the first word, then inserting the second word somewhere within that changed first word.
EXAMPLE: Give the phrase DUAL VENT, change the D to E (making EUAL), then insert VENT between the E and U, making E(VENT)UAL. Note: Changing the first word doesn't have to result in a real word. The letter to be changed and the new letter are given as hints below the clues.
