NPR Weekend Edition Sunday Puzzle

Each clue below has two words. The first words contains some of the letters of a U.S. state capital with those letters in correct left-to-right order - but not in consecutive order. The second word contains some of the letters in the name of that capital city's state, again with those letter in correct left-to-right order, but not consecutive. For example, given SCANT - CORN, the answers would be SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA. Can you name the capital cities and their states?
