MALAPROPISMS IV
A malapropism is the mistaken use of a word in the place of a similar-sounding one, often with an unintentionally amusing result.
Some examples - with the proper word in ( )
1. I deny the allegation and defy the alligator. (alleger)
2. Illiterate him from your memory. (obliterate)
3. I just might fade into Bolivian. (oblivion)
4. In 1863 Lincoln emaciated the slaves. ((emancipated)
5. John was a very arduous suitor. (ardent)
6. Beauty is all around us. It's iniquitous. (ubiquitous)
7. To go or not to go - it's entirely your interrogative. (prerogative)
8. All you do is talk. Won't you ever stop being so voracious. (loquacious)
9. The expectant mother went to the doctor for her prenuptial care. (prenatal)
10. A lizard that can camouflage itself by changing color is called a comedian. (chameleon)
