What is unusual about the name PACIFIC OCEAN?

Answer:

The three C's are pronounced in three different ways.

First C is pronounced as a soft C - as in "center".

The second C is pronounced as the hard C - as in "call".

The third C is pronounced as SH.*

 

*I can't think of any word where the C stands alone and is pronounced with the SH sound.
