Soon after my accident, I went back to the classroom wearing a plaster cast around my chest that could not be seen under my shirt.
One day I was having trouble reining in my rowdy tenth grade class. Making matters worse, a stiff breeze coming from an open window kept blowing my tie into my face. That, at least, I could control: I stapled the tie onto my plaster cast.
It worked. The pupils' mouths fell open. For the rest of the day, I had no trouble from any of them.
