LOGICAL THINKING XI

GAMES/World of Puzzles

Aunt Hildegarde has been running around with Aunt Fidelity a lot recently, and it seems to have affected her tastes. Can you tell what principle is guiding her likes and dislikes these days?

Aunt Hildegarde likes what's FANCY, but not what's PLAIN.

She prefers the VEST to the rest of a SUIT.

She likes SECURITY, but refuses to accept a PAYCHECK,

DOORS are fine, but not WINDOWS.

She has taken in a mangy CUR, and has given away her RHINO.

She loves a TENT, but avoids a GAZEBO.

She likes the fringe on top, but not the SURREY.

She thinks the CONTINENT is superior to any COUNTRY in it,

A MATE is good, but not a SPOUSE.

One good TERN, she declares, is better than a GULL.

Answer:

Aunt Hildegarde likes words to which IN can be prefixed - to make a new word (INFANCY, INVEST, INSECURITY, etc.)
