CRYPTO CLUES VII

Cryptic crosswords are also known as British crosswords, from their origins in England. In addition to directly answering the clue, as in American crosswords, the cryptic answer also answers the clue using wordplay - including anagrams, double meanings, hidden words, and other language tricks.

For example, the clue,  Ancient Greek people line bridges with art, could be answered with SPARTANS. Spartans are an ancient Greed people line, and also "bridges" (covers) ART - spARTans.
