Part I
Aunt Hildegarde likes words that have the same structure as the name of the relative she's seen most recently. She has just returned from a visit with Uncle Byron. She now likes:
INDIGO, but not BLUE
ONIONS but not GARLIC
UPSCALE but not DISCOUNT
TOPEKA but not KANSAS CITY
Does Aunt Hildegarde like
AFTERNOONS or EVENINGS?
Answer:
Uncle BYRON's name begins with a preposition. So do INDIGO, ONIONS, UPSCALE, and TOPEKA. She likes AFTERNOONS because it also begins with a preposition.
