CRYPTO CLUES IX

The answers to Cryptic Crossword have two parts:  a definition of the answer and the answer described by wordplay. For example, the clue, ENDORSE BUSINESS HEADED BY PRISONER, the answer would be CONFIRM. CONFIRM means to endorse, a FIRM is a business, and it is "headed' (preceded) by prisoner (CON). Also look out for anagrams, hidden words, reversals, and double meanings.
