1. A word that describes many tourist attractions in Washington, D.C. can be anagrammed into the capital cities of two countries. What is the word and what are the cities?

2. Think of a fruit that has eleven letters. Drop the last two letters, to leave the scrambled names of two other fruits. What is the eleven-letter fruit, and what are the unscrambled names of the two other fruits?

Answers:

1. The word is MEMORIAL. The capital cities are LIMA and ROME.

2. The fruit is POMEGRANATE. Dropping the TE, you're left with the scrambled versions of PEAR and MANGO.
