Each two-word phrase below has a long and a short form. To find the long form, you must correctly change one letter in each word of the phrase and combine the resulting letters. Do not change the order of the letters. For example, given AMP IRK, you would change the A in AMP to U and the K in IRK to E to get UMPIRE. The short form of the word is the first three letters of the long form (UMP). In the six examples below, the short form of the word may have four, five, or six letters and may be found at either the beginning or end of the longer word.
