Each cryptic clue contains its own answer - but  it's disguised by wordplay. For example, the clue, Objecting to a profit by a holy person, could by answered with AGAINST. AGAINST is objecting, A GAIN is a profit, and  A GAIN is by (next to) ST, which is short for saint - a holy person.
