The owner of a restaurant ought to be called a restauranteur (with an N). Unfortunately, there is no such proper word in either English or French. A restaurant owner is a restaurateur (no N). Although technically incorrect, the two words are so similar that restauranteur is commonly used and is considered acceptable.
