POINTS TO PONDER CXI
The BIG 3 Philosophical Razors:*
1. OCCAM'S RAZOR
The simplest explanation is often the best one.
2. HANLON'S RAZOR:
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.
3. HITCHENS' RAZOR:
Anything asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
*The term "razor" refers to the "shaving away" of unnecessary assumptions when distinguishing between two theories. For example, in Hanlon's Razor, it's simpler (and kinder) to not take personal offense at a slight or insult, when it may have been caused by ignorance or thoughtlessness - rather than by malicious intent.
