Change one letter in each word in the left-hand column to a new one. The result may or may not be a word. Put these letters to the front or back of a word in the right-hand column to create a longer word. For example, if CON were in the left-hand column and BASS in the right-hand column, the C in CON could be changed to O - leaving OON. These letters could attach themselves to BASS to get BASSOON. The longer words will all be in the same category, and the letters that are changed, shown in ( ), reading down, will spell another word in that category.
