1. ROUX - A mixture of fat (butter) and flower used to make sauces  
 
2. KAPOK - A cotton-like substance used for stuffing cushions and toys
 
3. GUSSET - A piece of fabric sewn into a garment to strengthen or enlarge it
 
4. TUREEN - A deep, covered dish for serving soup
