POINTS TO PONDER XXXVII

From Reader's Digest

Loneliness is most acutely felt with other people, for with others, even with a lover, sometimes, we suffer from our differences - differences of taste, temperament, mood. With other human beings, vision become double vision. We are busy wondering, What does my companion see or think of this? And What do I think of it? The original impact gets lost, or confused. Alone, we can afford to be wholly whatever we are, and to feel whatever we feel absolutely. That is a great luxury.
May Sarton

*******************************************

It's extremely important not to have one's life all blocked out, not to have the days and weeks totally organized. It's essential to leave gaps and interludes for spontaneous action, for it is often in spontaneity and surprises that we open ourselves to the unlimited opportunities and new areas brought into our lives by chance. It is often in consequence of these very moments that our life paths take their most interesting turnings.
Jean Hersey
