7. The Howdy Doody Show ran from 1947-1960 (2,543 episodes). Clarabell the Clown was played by Bob Keeshan, who later became Captain Kangaroo. Princess Summer-Fall-Winer-Spring's father was Chief Thunderthud - played by Bill LeConec. He and head writer Eddie Kean coined the term KAWABONGA as a word to express surprise or anger. Surfers modified it to COWABUNGA - no doubt influenced by the Howdy Doody show they grew up watching.
